Aloof, walking by once

Aloof, walking by once

Aloof, walking by once,

un-exchanged shape you were,

setting the stone into the unmoving face,

the sea into the unmoving face.

Maid Medusa –

so comely to fear.

Such a stare,

blind and full of eyes,

like grey rocks in the sea grey

but not alike,

boiling and breaking,

writhing frozen,

fixed and frantic.

You were

the painted cut,

gone but staying,

haired grey and

grey browed.
